Marine Staff Sgt. Mike Mendoza...was seriously injured Aug. 3 when he took the brunt of a grenade explosion aimed at the six-man Marine recon unit he led near Baghdad...Shrapnel from the grenade ripped a dime-sized hole in the left side of his chest
